Description

This small photograph album belonged to Mrs R Andrews of Rangitikei House. This photograph bears the caption, "All Saints Church P.N. 5/1/1928". This Anglican church was the third on the site. The first All Saints was built 1875, a second larger building was constructed 1882, incorporating the original building, and the third and current All Saints built in 1914. To the left of the church is the Municipal Buildings. It was constructed in 1890 and was first used as the Colonial Bank of New Zealand. This was then purchased by the Borough Council and housed the Council Chamber as well as the Municipal Offices and the Public Library (as seen here). Later in 1944-1945 a new council office was built including the shops alongside. This is now Square Edge.
