This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 25 November, 1959. “Last evening, before a large number of members and friends, a group of the Alwyn Physical Culture Club demonstrated a series of physical fitness exercises included in their class activities. Here is a portion of the squad demonstrating the “venus” exercise which tones up all muscles in the body.”
