The war memorial, unveiled in 1926, stands in the centre of the Square. It was a replica of one in Folkstone, England. Originally erected to honour the dead of World War I, further names from WWII, Korea and Vietnam wars have since been added. The sound shell that once sat at the base of the Hopwood Clock Tower is visible in this image.
