Plaque acknowledging the opening of the new Council Chamber September 1924. The chamber was an addition, at the rear, to the Municpal offices, originally built as a bank in 1892. In 1945 the original front part of the Council building was pulled down and replaced with new offices, with the 1924 addition remaining. The entire building is now used as an arts centre called Square Edge.
