Freyberg High School was officially opened by Dr C. E. Beeby, The Director of Education. He is photographed addressing guests attending the ceremony, with the official party seated behind. Front row: Mr F. R. G. Aitken, Mr H. M. Craig - Principal, Mrs Craig, Mrs Blechynden, Mr E. Blechynden - Chairman Board of Governors, Mr G. Tremaine - Mayor (obscured), Mrs Tremaine, Reverend J. Hubbard and Mrs Hubbard. Also present are the staff of the school.
