The library opened about 1928. Before 1943 it was little more than a small collection of basic agricultural periodicals and related books. Until 1937, the library was sufficiently small to employ a single librarian. In that year, there was an improvement in salary and also F.A. Sandall (B.A) arrived to begin a long term of librarianship. With the help of a Carnegie Grant, he vastly improved the Library’s conditions. A Library assistant was appointed in 1944.
