Description

When the Palmerston North Bowling Club formed in 1889 it rented a private Green in Lombard Street. In 1901, land in Taonui Street was purchased, adjoining the Lombard Street Green, which was later purchased. Samuel Jickell, from whose album this photograph came, was Palmerston North's Borough Engineer from 1904-1919. He is fourth from right in the back row (with cap and pipe)
