J Piercy purchaed a property from David Hughey on 3 December 1891, located about one mile from Ashhurst on the Pohangina Road. He subsequently sold the property to Richard James on 2 April 1896. Piercy lodged Patent application 3196 for 'Piercy's Standard Fencing' on 21 August 1889. His fencing was awarded a Certificate of Merit at the Manawatū and West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association's show of November 1892.
