This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 3 December, 1959. “The new craze of Go-karting struck Palmerston North yesterday afternoon with the arrival of this Go-kart from Auckland. Three drivers, Mr J. Stevens (left), John Stevens (right) and seated Mr D. Sinton, the designer, took 10.5 hours’ running time to reach Palmerston North. Shortly after 9 o’clock this morning they were on their way to Wellington.”
