Elsie Nathan (nee Josephs) was born in 1884. She married Fredric J Nathan on 15 September 1908. Fredric was Managing Director of Joseph Nathan and Co., a firm his father (Joseph Edward) established. Fredric was also President of the Manawatu Racing Club and Mayor of Palmerston North from 1923-1928. Ian Matheson notes that this identification may be an error and the woman depicted is Elsie Flyger, not Elsie Nathan. It is unclear which identification is correct.
