Description

The celebrations for 75 years of Palmerston North included a 'Jubilee train', pictured here at Palmerston North Railway Station. There was a week of celebratory activities to mark Palmerston North's beginning as a Borough in 1877, including the depiction of the arrival of the first train from Wellington at the site of the original train station in The Square. The dignitaries are unnamed but the Minister of Railways. Sir William Stanley Goosman, is thought to be the gentleman on the right.
