Description

Mr Black became the 22nd Mayor of Palmerston North in October of 1968, defeating the sitting Mayor, Mr Rennie. He was born in Christchurch, educated in Palmerston North and was a managing director of a local business. Desmond Barry Black was a Councillor from 1956-1968 and Mayor from 1968-1971.
