Demolition of the Palmerston North City Council owned Abattoir, built 1906, in Maxwell’s Line Palmerston North. This photograph shows the demolition of the boiling-down house section of the old abattoir. Mr A Spilman, former Manager of the Abbattoir 1917-1947, stands watching. The land was subsequently subdivided for housing in the rapidly growing Awapuni area of Palmerston North.
