This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 18 August 1961 "Last evening at the university tournament ball, the representative panel of judges with a "thoroughness" that drew riotous applause from the students, chose from the eight contestants "Miss Winter Tournament" of 1962. Above is Mr. C. Palmer (tournament controller) placing the coveted sash on Miss Josephine Ward (Canterbury). On the left is attractive Miss Margaret Daly (Auckland) place second, and on the right charming Miss Belinda Wilson (Massey College) who was in third place."
