This image ran in the Manawatu Evening Standard on July 12 1962 with the caption, "Clothing left with the 10 to 20-day-old baby boy early yesterday morning was found in good condition. Photograph shows Senior-Detective-Sergeant F A Gordon holding some of the articles at present being held at the police station. The police have found no significant marks on the clothing." This baby, dubbed "Bobby" by hospital staff, was discovered by Palmerston North milkman Trevor Roberts in a phone-booth near the corner of Cardiff Street and Pioneer Highway. The mother was never found and "Bobby" was adopted out under the name Keith Mitchell, who never discovered the identity of his birth parents. For further information, see "Phonebox Baby's Unanswered Questions" by Tina White in the Manawatu Evening Standard, 28 November 2015.
