This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 13 May, 1963. "Staring nonchalantly into space and oblivious to clutching hands, this outsize teddy bear commanded much attention at the doll competition in Palmerston North on Friday. Wide-eyed Richard Lester, aged 21 months, was but one of the many children who were captivated by the bear."
