Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 19 February, 1964. "Prize-winners from the West End School swimming championships which took place yesterday are: (From the left) T. Arlidge and P. Shawe (1st equal for the boys' championship), Reawyn Ebbett (champion girl, diving cup and Donald Allen Memorial Cup) and Phillip Chalk (winner of the cup for best style."

The original caption published with this photograph as quoted above misspelled some of the names. The boy standing second from left is Peter Shaw, the girl second from right is Raewyn Ebbett and the boy on the right is Philip (rather than Phillip) Chalk. Ebbett was awarded the Donald Allan (not Allen) Memorial Cup.
