"Poppy Day Appeal"
- Description
This image was taken for a story that ran in the Manawatu Evening Standard on 18 April 1963, "Preparations were being made yesterday at the R.S.A. for the distribution of poppies for the poppy day appeal on Friday. Mr. F. W. Coombs, the president of the R.S.A. is seen with the convener of the appeal, Mr. F. E. Tether (right), checking a map of the city for the distribution sites. Some 20,000 poppies have been prepared and the office of the R.S.A. was a hive of activity as they were being unpacked."
