The Albert Street Council depot came into existence around 1924. The Ian Matheson City Archives have contracts from October 1926 for plans to build a bus barn, workshops, machinery shop and storeroom. The following year in July another contract aimed to construct a concrete floor for the barn. The Ferguson Street Recycling Centre opened on the same site in 1991.
