This photograph is taken at the entrance to Foxton Reserve and shows the Pohangina Valley East Road in the days when it was little more than a muddy track through the bush. The man on horseback is Mr Ned Enright, who carried mail from Raumai to Piripiri for several years. He is leading a horse which is carrying the saddlebags which contain the mail. The man on the white horse, left, is Mr Bill Oliver who lived at Raukawa, near Ashhurst.
