Description

This church was the second Palmerston North Presbyterian Church to stand on this site. The first church was built in 1877 and was replaced by this larger Church in 1893, which was subsequently added to in 1902. The last service in it was held 27 Feb 1955 and shortly afterwards the building was demolished to make way for the present church. The Memorial Hall behind the church (to the left of the photograph) was opened on June 17 1923, as a memorial to parishoners who lost their lives in World War I (WWI), and is used today as a commercial business (2007).
