This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 24 June 1958, page 15: "Wool has been the only fibre that will afford protection against the bitter cold of the Antarctic. Here two members of the New Zealand Trans-Antarctic expedition are seen examining part of their wool clothing with which they were issued. A full kit of wool clothing, including blankets, was donated to every member of the expedition."
