Description

Dr Hugh Marriner was the first doctor to permanently reside in Palmerston North. He emigrated to New Zealand on the ship "Kaikoura", after passing his medical examinations. In 1886, he returned to England for health reasons, but died (on the Kaikoura) while traveling.
