Mort Andrews service station, at 777 Tremaine Avenue, was the first in New Zealand to be opened as a joint venture by a Local Authority and private enterprise. Mort Andrews watches while the Mayor of Palmerston North, Brian Elwood, fills his car with Compressed Natural Gas at the official opening of the fuelling station.
