Protestors demonstrating
- Description
The photograph shows some protesters outside the courthouse, with their placards demanding the resignation of District Court Judge J.W.P. Watts after remarks he made when sentencing a man convicted of assaulting his de facto wife. Identified are Dr Liz Gordon (far left holding placard), who was a student at the time, and Dr Wendy Craig (far right holding placard), coordinator of Community Volunteers (who are protesting at this event). Behind them, at the top of the courthouse steps, is Peter Howse, the man to whom Judge Watts made his remarks. He was invited to attend the demonstration.
