Description

Solomon Abrahams (1849-1932) was born in London, of Jewish parentage, and came to New Zealand in 1865. He first worked in Wellington before coming to Palmerston North in May 1872. He set up business as a General Store keeper, and later became a pawnbroker in The Square. Abrahams was a Borough Councillor, 1884-1887, 1897-1900, 1905-1907, and Mayor of Palmerston North 1887-1889.
