Las Lassen (Lars Larsen) arrived in New Zealand in 1871 and was allotted Section 415, Lot 15 (25 acres) on the corner of Napier and Stoney Creek Roads. He moved on to Hawkes Bay and then Dannevirke, there marrying Christine Bak 19 August 1876 in the Dannevirke Schoolhouse, which then doubled as the Lutheran Church. Las went on to become a successful dairy farmer, eventually purchasing a property in Dixons Line, Bunnythorpe, opposite the rugby grounds.
