Palmerston North Municipal Library Reference Department seal press and seal

Description

A metal seal press and attached seal. The press is around 120mm long. The attched seal leaves a raised and embossed impression on paper. The seal design contains the following words 'PALMERSTON NORTH MUNICIPAL LIBRARY REFERENCE DEPT.'. This seal would have been used to mark a page of all the books held in the Reference Department and can today (2008) be seen on a handful of rare or older books in the New Zealand and Pacific Islands reference collections. The design is about 50mm across.
