This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 28 February, 1964. "An added attraction at the parade of modern fashion held at the Freyberg High School on Monday night in connection with the "galarama" was the parade of garments bringing memories of the past -- not so much in the past as there is seen many an inspiration for the present day styles. Christine Newell wearing a 60-year-old pink faille ball gown (owned by the late Mrs. P. Mildron) featuring 41 rows of horizontal tucking on the skirt, vertical tucked flounce and fully lined and heavily boned bodice, and was offset by a red silk velvet cape and opera bag."
