This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 6th December 1965 "Sixty Birthright children went to the Wellington Zoo by buses provided by the Palmerston North Lions Club. The children were under the supervision of Mrs. S. Banks (president's wife), Mrs. R. Campbell, Mrs. R. Neilson, Miss Lynette Davis and Mrs. H. Davis. They were met at Levin by the Levin Lions Club and had morning tea at Lake Horowhenua. At Kaiwarra where they had a short stop they were met by the Wellington Lions Club. On arrival at the Zoo six Wellington Lions Club members helped to escort the children. Before leaving Wellington Zoo to return to Palmerston North they were treated to an organised sightseeing trip around Wellington. Wives of the members of the Palmerston north Lions cut attractive picnic lunches for the sixty children. They are seen here just before leaving Palmerston North."
