Description

A church service marked the opening of the Palmerston North Centenary. This service was conducted near the clock tower and the chimes were stopped so they would not interfere with the proceedings. Three ministers conducted the service, and Mr Black, Mayor, gave a scripture reading to the gathering of more than 450 people. The Salvation Army Band provided a musical backing to the Service.
