Statue of Te Peeti Te Awe Awe
- Description
The marble statue was erected in 1907 to commemorate his loyalty to the Crown and his friendship to the early settlers in the district. His ōhākī (parting words):
"Kua kaupapa e au te aroha, ma koutou e whakaoti" -
"I have laid the foundation of friendship for you to bring to completion"
