Norfolk Chambers was designed by Thorrold-Jaggard and built by Messrs Dickel & Kempson in 1938-39, at a cost of £3,635, to become the offices of the Thorrold-Jaggard architectural practice. At this time the building consisted of the shop, a showroom and an office. In 1944 a flat was added, and this became Thorrold-Jaggard’s home. Both Reginald and William Thorrold-Jaggard were ultimately to live out their lives in the impressive building, with William being recorded in 2006 as living at Flat 1/20 Grey Street. The name ‘Norfolk Chambers’ reflects Thorrold-Jaggard’s apparent origin (and certainly his training) in Norfolk, England.
