A dinner was held in the Produce Hall at the Showgrounds, Palmerston North to celebrate the return of Slesvig to Denmark, followed by entertainment and games for the children, and a concert in the evening. Over 400 Danish settlers and their descendents attended from around New Zealand. Dignitaries included Mr Charles Dahl in the chair; J A Nash (MP); M Myers (Danish Consul for New Zealand); Colonel Melville, J R Hardie (Town Clerk); J R Hughes (Borough Engineer) and Councillors. The women standing in white dresses, with red sashes, were the waitresses (dressed in the colours of Denmark).
