Born Wellington 26 January 1919, Leslie Walter Gandar represented the Manawatu Electorate as National Member of Parliament 1966-1978. He was a former Minister of Science and Technology and Minister of Education. He was also High Commissioner of New Zealand in London 1979-1981.
