Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 8 August, 1959. "An exuberant farewell was given to Mrs D. Smith, an American exchange teacher, when she left Palmerston North for Wellington last night. A crowd of Palmerston North Girls' High School pupils brought out confetti and streamers just before the railcair pulled out. Not a few of them wept. Mrs Smith will sail for home from Wellington on the Monterey."
