The crews were photographed upon their arrival. They are, from left to right: Flight Lieutenant R. B. Smith, of Oamaru, who piloted one of the planes, Flight Lieutenants C. N. Hanson, of Papatoetoe, and P. J. Heares, of Ohakea (the two navigators) and Squadron Leader G. R. B. Highet, of Wellington, Officer commanding 75 Squadron R.N.Z.A.F., who captained the second aircraft".
