Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 01 April 1958, page 7: "An integral part of the global striking force of the U.S. Strategic Air Command, giant jet tankers -- in this case a KC135 -- kept the B52 bombers aloft for incredible periods by aerial refueling. At the rear of the plane can be seen the retractable refueling boom, under the tail."
