This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 29 July, 1959. "This heap of rubble, ash, twisted iron and two chimneys was once the nine-roomed home of the Jennings family in Okuku Road, near Shannon. The family lost all their possessions in the blaze, but no lives were lost."
