This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 25 August, 1959. "The Standard IV children of the West End School are seen boarding the Viscount yesterday for Christchurh, where they will be staying for a week. They will be calling on the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr Manning) and will be visiting factories, the Museum and sightseeing. They are accompanied by two teachers from the school, Mr B. P. Slade and Miss P. M. Hastings. The children are L. Trotter, S. Peddie, D. Rule, T. Scorgie, S. Loudin, S. Burns, J. Jackson, P. Allen, D. Archibald and J. Moyes."
