This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 10 July 1958, page 10: "The use and efficiency of the round-about at the intersection of Broadway and Princess Street was checked by the engineer's assistant of the Transport Department (Mr. S.W. Pierce) today. During the lunch period, from noon until 1.15 p.m., Mr. Pierce charted the number of motor-vehicles and cycles using the round-about. A similar check was made at the intersection prior to the installation of the round-about, a further one when the temporary project was installed and the final one was being made today. Traffic was flowing smoothly and few delays were noted. The checks would be of interest to other centres contemplating the installation of similar safety projects."
