This house was built by McAlister and Howes for Samuel Weston, a saw miller of Apiti. It was planned in 1904 and the building contract was dated 29 June 1906. The building has many interesting architectural features such as the cast iron verandah supports made by Mosking Bros of Palmerston North, iron lace decorating, the verandah (which has been restored) and the rooftop turrent.
