Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 13 July 1961 "Feeding time is just as important as the judging at a bird show. This was pointed out at the show of the Palmerston North Canary and Budgerigar Club at the Astoria Ballroom today. The feeding of the birds normally takes place after judging is completed. Mr. G. Travers, the president of the club, is seen judging the last of the budgerigar section while Mr. A.E. Chatfield, assistant show manager (foreground), feeds the birds with a specially made feeding can and spout so that the birds can be fed without opening the cages."
