A 1901 “Barett” steam traction engine, pulling two flat trailers of people dressed up as early settlers, in Rangitikei Street. The 75th Jubilee celebrations were an eight day long series of events. On the afternoon of Wednesday, 19 March 1952, a parade around the square entitled ‘Cavalcade of transport through the ages’ was conducted.
