This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 6 August 1958, page 8: "Engineer instructors of the Regular Force who are undergoing a star classification course at Linton, at the School of Military Engineering, are seen here in action on the artificial lake built by the school for bridging and watermanship exercises. A three-ton truck is ferried across the lake on a close support raft. These rafts are powered by four propulsion units, being four eight-horsepower motors, and are capable of carrying a class nine load, the equivalent of a loaded three-tonner or bran carrier."
