Dr MacIntire was educated at Jersey College, Jersey. Before leaving England, he was honorary surgeon and physician at the Middlesex Hospital and later residential medical officer at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. He established a practice in Broad Street in 1884 and was subsequently appointed surgeon to the Palmerston North Hospital and to the Foresters', Oddfellows and Druids Societies.
