Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in the Manawatu Evening Standard on 26 July, 1963. "What could have eventually proved to be serious will not happen again. City Council workmen are using over 10 tons of broken concrete to fill in between pillars on the Botanical Road bridge, crossing the Mangaone Stream. Youngsters had dug caves 4ft into the embankment, leaving several pillars clear of earth."
