This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 05 April 1963, "With virtually most of the construction work completed, it will not be long before the new Whakarongo bridge will be opened foe use. The formation of the roadwork has yet to be completed however. Workmen were busy fitting guardrails into position today."
