This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 20 May, 1959. "Mr W. L. Francis, the principal of the junior school of the New Zealand Brass Bands' Association, is shown auditioning Graham Webster, of the Palmerston North City Silver Band, an applicant for the school, in the city yesterday. The school will be held at Lincoln Agricultural College, it will be attended by 50 boys from throughout New Zealand. One hundred and fifty boys have applied for admission."
