The United Farmers’ Co-operative Association Ltd building was constructed in 1890 near the corner of Main Street east and The Square, for Joseph Nathan & Co as the Ready Money Store. In 1892 it was sold to the newly formed Manawatu Farmers’ Co-operative Association Ltd. When it merged with the United Farmers Alliance Ltd. in 1895 it became the United Farmers’ Co-operative Association Ltd (UFCA). The store traded in a wide range of goods and continued to trade until 1908.
